A newer student wrote me saying one of her biggest issues/problems is getting in 3 meals and 2 snacks a day – her hectic schedule makes it hard go get in the meals. But her weight is 238 pounds and isn’t dropping.
So without revealing anything private about her I’ll just share my reply as I believe there are two, really important, take-home points here:
1. I see, well when it’s all said and done you ARE eating enough calories to maintain weight – probably in the 1800-2100 calorie range. So you might only be getting 1-2 feedings a day but the calories are in that range or you wouldn’t maintain 238ish pounds.
We all, in areas we’re not proficient, have a tendency to avoid looking in the mirror of truth.
2. I definitely recommend you use the Nutrition Professor (a tool within our online campus) and log every morsel that crosses your lips. And if you’re already using one of those slick apps that tracks your food I’ll say it is NOT working and I’d ask you again to use my Nutrition Professor that isn’t as slick but does work well and has something FAR more important than those slick apps – a Coach who can read the results and give feedback if you ask him or her. 🙂
If the slick apps were the answer, as there are tens of MILLIONS of users worldwide using them, we wouldn’t still have rising obesity rates – but we do.
What good is an X-Ray or MRI if a radiologist doesn’t read it? Food logging CAN be enlightening or it can simply perpetuate false beliefs as the user sees what they want to see.
